Thoughts On The New Presidency

I hate getting involved in political discussions or posting anything political that I beliefs that I have on Facebook. Because even though we have free speech people who have opposing views will tear your beliefs down. So, where's the free speech in that?

Therefore, like the late and great Martin Luther King Jr. I choose to stick with love because hate is too great of a burden to bear.

I don't want to speak for everyone but I know for many it's not about the party that won. It's about who won and who he's bring with him for the next four years.

As a black woman, I honestly look at anyone who voted for Trump with caution. If I know you I look at you with a different point of view now. Basically because of the way his supporters treated minorities at his rallies and the White Supremacist groups that support him. One can only think that a Trump supporter feels the same way.

As a woman in general I can't stand up for anyone who degrades woman. As a human being I can't stand up for anyone that belittles people.

Don't tell someone to respect Trump because he is now our president. When Barack Obama was the leader of the free world did you respect him? Did you call in your president? That is a two-way street and it works both ways.

I believe that everyone has the right to marry who they want. Regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation no one should be denied the right and same benefits same sex couples have. I am not a person in that category but I stand in solidarity with those that are.

I also believe in a women's right to choose. It's not my business what she does with her body. We are so focused on abortion but we don't pay nearly as much attention to children who are being abused or are going hungry.

With the age of social media and this pass election people feel as though they have a right and authority to tear people down. And I'm not speaking about one party in general, it's coming from both sides.

Every night I pray for the world. We all need to love each other more and celebrate our similarities rather than focusing on our differences. The former outweighs the latter.

I truly hope that this presidency turns out for the better. Actions speak louder than words.

SOCIAL MEDIA AND OUR COMMUNICATION WITH EACH OTHER

The people that have high ratings all wear pastel colored clothes. They’re also obsessed with getting a high ranking and staying there. Having a high score means that you’re a privilege member of society and that your part of the “in crowd.” Getting a low ranking can get you fired from your job and looked at as a lower-class citizen. As the episode progresses Lacie gets invited to her childhood best friend’s wedding. The only problem is she hit a few road bumps getting there. First her flight is canceled, and her rental car breaks down among other events as they progress throughout the episode.

Watching this episode will make you realize how invested many of us are in technology. Specifically, social media and smart phones.  While sometimes these things can be beneficial in the sense that we can grow our companies, reconnect with long lost friends and family members. There is also the dark side where it becomes a tool that we use to harass others and basically let people see a side of ourselves that we probably wouldn’t let them see face to face. I am also guilty of spending too much time looking at Facebook, Instagram and the occasional Twitter when I’m live tweeting during a TV show.

There is nothing wrong in engaging with your peers online the problem is when it’s all that you do and not enjoying the company around you. So, take a break for a few hours and enjoy time with your family and friends. Instagram will be there later.
