Thoughts On The New Presidency

I hate getting involved in political discussions or posting anything political that I beliefs that I have on Facebook. Because even though we have free speech people who have opposing views will tear your beliefs down. So, where's the free speech in that?

Therefore, like the late and great Martin Luther King Jr. I choose to stick with love because hate is too great of a burden to bear.

I don't want to speak for everyone but I know for many it's not about the party that won. It's about who won and who he's bring with him for the next four years.

As a black woman, I honestly look at anyone who voted for Trump with caution. If I know you I look at you with a different point of view now. Basically because of the way his supporters treated minorities at his rallies and the White Supremacist groups that support him. One can only think that a Trump supporter feels the same way.

As a woman in general I can't stand up for anyone who degrades woman. As a human being I can't stand up for anyone that belittles people.

Don't tell someone to respect Trump because he is now our president. When Barack Obama was the leader of the free world did you respect him? Did you call in your president? That is a two-way street and it works both ways.

I believe that everyone has the right to marry who they want. Regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation no one should be denied the right and same benefits same sex couples have. I am not a person in that category but I stand in solidarity with those that are.

I also believe in a women's right to choose. It's not my business what she does with her body. We are so focused on abortion but we don't pay nearly as much attention to children who are being abused or are going hungry.

With the age of social media and this pass election people feel as though they have a right and authority to tear people down. And I'm not speaking about one party in general, it's coming from both sides.

Every night I pray for the world. We all need to love each other more and celebrate our similarities rather than focusing on our differences. The former outweighs the latter.

I truly hope that this presidency turns out for the better. Actions speak louder than words.
